Scholastic India launches the first book in The 39 Clues series
Read the books. Collect the cards. Play the game.
New Delhi, September 9 2008: Scholastic India is pleased to announce the launch of The Maze of Bones, the first book in the groundbreaking and multi-dimensional new series The 39 Clues.
Scholastic worldwide has taken a multi-platform approach for this series by combining reading with online gaming and collecting trading cards. The 39 Clues will include ten adrenaline-charged books written by ten well-known authors, hundreds of collectible cards, and a dynamic online game where readers will uncover information beyond what is revealed in the books and cards, and have a chance to compete for very attractive prizes.
The high-octane adventures accelerate in the second book One False Note, by Gordon Korman. One False Note will hit the shelves on December 2, 2008.
Says Sayoni Basu, Director Publishing, Scholastic India Pvt. Ltd., “Multi-platform stuff is fantastic but the book too has to be good and I am happy to say that this ten book series is being written by ten great authors and it will not be disappointing.” According to Rick Riordan, the creator of the entire ten-book story arc, as well as the author of the first book, The Maze of Bones, “When Scholastic first came to me about doing The 39 Clues, I was so excited. First of all as a history teacher, I love anything that can make history exciting and The 39 Clues definitely does that. Secondly I love the multi-platform approach that they are taking. I am happy to say that the ten book series is amazing.” As a gamer himself, Rick is especially excited about The 39 Clues online game, because "you can get online, and join the hunt for the clues yourself, but don’t you get too excited because for that big prize, I am getting there first! I’ll see you on the hunt.”
DreamWorks Studios has acquired the film rights for The 39 Clues series and Steven Spielberg is considering directing the project. The date of the film release has not been announced as yet.
